PocketBook identifies books in its library by file hash, not ISBN or any stable ID. Fix a typo in the author, swap the cover, or normalize the title — the hash changes, and the device now sees a brand-new book. Every highlight, bookmark, and note is silently orphaned. The data is still in the device's databases, but it points at a hash that no longer matches anything on disk. knyga is a CLI utility that rewrites the stale hash to the new one inside books.db and explorer-3.db, backing both databases up first. Your annotations reattach to the re-tagged file. Repository: https://code.phoresl.com/foresle/knyga
